Least Possible Organization?

Alcoholics Anonymous has always tried to walk an unusual line: enough organization to get the work done, but not so much organization that people begin governing one another.

Today we’ll talk about the idea of the least possible organization—why AA needs groups, committees, service positions, and structure, while still protecting itself from bosses, unnecessary rules, control, and authority over individual members.

The question is not whether we need organization. It is: How much structure actually serves the purpose—and when does the structure start becoming the purpose?
